Here at Westways we do things a bit differently - Copyright is released to the client upon payment in full, this copyright release allows you to do whatever you like with the production without further remuneration to Westways Visual Communications.
The copyright we retain is we have the right to use your production to promote and advertise Westways Visual Communications and we retain the copyright on the design and concept which may be used on other clients productions.
The copyright on any purchased stock photos, audio, illustrations & video footage are covered by the copyright licence of the stock library.
DO WESTWAYS KEEP A BACKUP OF MY PRODUCTIONS?
Yes we do. We will guarantee that we will have an archived copy of your production for a minimum of 36 months. Having said that we still have an archive of jobs completed in 1994.
WHAT DOES GSM IN PAPER WEIGHT MEAN?
GSM is an acronym standing for ‘Grams per Square Meter’ and it's the measure of paper/stock thickness. The higher the GSM number, the heavier the paper (stock). Once you get to around the 250gsm mark we consider that to be card not paper. This is why we call it stock not paper. If you can be specific about the GSM you’re after can make all the difference to the price and the quality of your production. In todays world of short run digital printing the stock will have little effect on the price. If you're not sure what stock to use give us a call and we will organise a sample for you.
WHAT IF MY WEBSITE IS HACKED?
As most of our websites are developed on leading industry platforms we have the security of global development platforms software companies providing the hosting. If your site is developed on another platform we only use reputable Australian hosting companies.
BUT there is NO Guarantee that your website will not be hacked. Even NASA and the CIA have been hacked before. In the unlikely event that your site is hacked any work to recover and restore your website will be considered BILLABLE work.
WHAT IS IMAGE RESOLUTION?
The all important image resolution is the measure of the amount of pixels that are used to generate a digital image. Image resolution is generally measured in Pixels Per Inch (PPI) in the digital/website world and in Dots Per Inch (DPI) in the print world. Image resolution is extremely important as it has a direct result in the quality an image will be shown on a printed document, website, video any where the image is used. The higher the resolution to better the image will look.
Always remember it's extremely hard to put resolution back into an image once removed so always "save as" when resizing an image
WHAT IS VECTOR ARTWORK?
Vector art is created using vector illustration software programs, such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw. These programs use mathematic equations and geometric primitives (points, lines, and shapes) to create artwork, logos and graphics. The beauty of vector artwork is that it can be scaled infinitely, without any loss of quality or fidelity. So a professional created logo will be a vector file that can be used on your business cards and the same file used on your building signage.
